Gapless map.

Sign electronically anywhere and anytime: The partnership between XiTrust and Swisscom now makes the qualified electronic signature with the MOXIS enterprise solution usable on the Swiss market – to the full extent and fully legally compliant. Internationally active companies in particular will benefit from this.

Until now, Switzerland was a blank spot on the MOXIS map of Europe. The eIDAS regulation as the basis for qualified electronic signatures in the EU does not apply in neutral Switzerland. Here, the federal law on certification services in the field of
electronic signature (ZertES) regulates the legal framework. The prerequisite for this is state recognition of the respective
certification service. The partnership between XiTrust and the trust services provider Swisscom results in a solution that is recognized in both jurisdictions.

The legal background is very simple: As soon as the jurisdiction of the respective branch is Switzerland, its laws on electronic signatures must also be applied. On the Swiss scene, this has repeatedly led to having to work with different signature solutions in different national company branches. Synergy effects through the use of one and the same signature solution – within a company and in communication with external partners in the EU – have thus been made considerably more difficult.

Signature with All-In Signing Service

“For XiTrust and Swisscom, the partnership therefore represents the ideal case in the interest of their customers. While companies based in Switzerland can now also use MOXIS for signature processes without media breaks, Swisscom is expanding its signature portfolio with the option of integrating its All-in Signing Service into the MOXIS product,” says Marcel Kurz, Business Development Manger at Swisscom.

The MOXIS enterprise solution supports Swisscom’s 2-factor Mobile ID solution to trigger the legally valid signature. Swiss companies that want to sign with the All-in Signing service and with their mobile can now take full advantage of MOXIS’ wide range of functions for legally valid signatures. The ability to sign documents in batches is included, along with many others, as is the visualization of signatures using MOXIS’ placeholder principle.

New flexibility

The partnership between the two companies adds yet another facet to the range of applications for MOXIS. In particular, internationally active companies that have been working successfully with MOXIS for a long time and no longer want to do without it in their Swiss subsidiary will benefit from this newfound flexibility.

A practical example illustrates this: If a company with branches in Germany and Switzerland has introduced the MOXIS enterprise solution for the German market and now wants to use the same solution in Switzerland, it was previously faced with the dilemma of different legal jurisdictions. Accordingly, for its Swiss headquarters, the company needed an alternative identity provider to supply users with personal certificates. This is because only these entitle the user to a qualified electronic signature. By integrating the All-in Signing Service into MOXIS, a uniform signature solution is now possible.

Result: Thanks to the partnership between Swisscom and XiTrust, the company can now also use MOXIS as a universal solution in a geographical sense!
